Remodeling Seminar: Bathrooms - From Updates to Overhauls and Kitchen Designs that Function and Look Good

Joe Klein, Director of Design for the S.J. Janis Company will team with Connor Williams, VP/Designer at Stone Dimensions Stone Products in the Learning Never Ends one evening of mini-courses for adults.  The first seminar will focus on “Bathrooms - From Updates to Overhauls” and the second “Kitchen Designs that Function and Look Good”. A discussion of creative uses and possibilities using the stone products should be enlightening. This will be held at Wauwatosa West High School located at 11400 West Center Street in Wauwatosa and is offered thru the Wauwatosa Recreation Department. This seminar begins at 6:45pm and is repeated at 8:15pm.  Call (414) 773-2900 or download the registration forms at www.tosarec.com. There is a $10 fee.

Remodeling Seminar: Bath Design Trends

Nathan Wachtl, Senior Consultant of the S.J.Janis Company and Chris Holum of the Kohler Co. will present a seminar on "Make a Splash in Your Bath: Sensible to Chic Bath Remodeling for Your Home," on Tuesday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 28 at the Lydell Community Center, 5205 N. Lydell Ave., Whitefish Bay. There is a $5 admission and registration is required one week in advance through the Lydell Community Center, 414-963-3947.

The session will offer ideas to renovate your bath with today’s hot trends, functional and luxurious design, and popular products, and it will cover how to maximize your bath’s impact and other important factors. There will be some Kohler product giveaways.

S.J. Janis Company Recognized at Annual Remodeler Award Presentation

S.J. Janis Company received five remodeling awards at the Milwaukee/NARI sponsored Wisconsin Remodeler of the Year Awards (WRA) presented January 20, 2012.

The company was recognized in the following categories:

• Residential Interior Over $100,000.00: Gold Award
• Residential Kitchen $40,000 - $80,000: Gold Award
• Residential Bath over $60,000: Silver Award
• Advertising/Marketing for website update: Silver Award
• “Reader’s Choice Award presented by M Magazine for our submission in the Residential Bath over $60,000 category was selected by the M Magazine readers as the favorite remodeling project of the five submissions in that category.

This the 23rd consecutive year S.J. Janis Company has won an award in the WRA competition, the only company to be so recognized in each year of the award competition, which is conducted annually by the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council.

Wagfest

The S.J.Janis Company is a sponser and participant of The Elmbrook Humane Society’s Wagfest being held on Saturday September 10, 2011 at Mitchell Park in Brookfield from 11am-5pm. This is the fifth consecutive year S.J. Janis has received  Guild Quality’s honor, which recognizes building professionals who have lengthy track records of exceptional customer service.

Clients Join In To Celebrate 60 Years in  Business

As part of S.J. Janis’s 60th Anniversary celebration, invitations were sent to clients asking them to participate in the celebration by placing signs on their property during the month of May. The signs read ‘This Home is Part of 60 Years of Remodeling Excellence’. Thanks to a quick and overwhelming response, the first 60 respondents throughout the Metro area now proudly display these signs. Donations to the Fischer House and the Elmbrook Humane Society are being made on behalf of our clients.

Women’s Charities, Inc. – 4th Annual High Stakes Charity Night

S.J. Janis has made a donation for the second year in a row to support Women’s Charities, an organization dedicated to promote and advocate the health and well being of all women by raising awareness of women’s health issues, supporting women in athletics, and fostering education on women’s health and wellness issues. A 4-hour handyman services package was donated for the 4th Annual High Stakes Charity Night.

Government Proclamation in Honor of 60th Anniversary
The S.J. Janis Company had the honor of receiving a proclamation signed by Governor Scott Walker in honor of its 60th Anniversary. The document cited the S.J. Janis Company  for its 60 years in business, the large number of awards it has won throughout the years, the professional certifications of its staff, memberships in various remodeling industry groups, and its Guildmaster status with Guild Quality. The Governor designated March, 2011 as ‘S.J. Janis Company, Inc. Month’.   Additionally, S.J. Janis received similar proclamations from the Milwaukee County Executive, and the Mayor of Wauwatosa.

Founded in March of 1951, the S.J. Janis Company has been a leading remodeling contractor throughout southeastern Wisconsin, completing renovations and additions to all areas of the home.

Since 2007, S.J. Janis has received the Guildmaster with Distinction award every year from GuildQuality, Inc., an independent customer satisfaction surveying firm serving a nationwide community of homebuilders and remodelers. The award recognizes building professionals who have lengthy track records of exceptional customer service. S.J. Janis is one of only 55 companies nationwide recognized with this honor.

The company has several employees that have achieved certifications within the industry, plus it has won dozens of remodeling and design awards throughout its history.

S.J. Janis Company is a member of several home improvement associations, including Metropolitan Builders Association (MBA), the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc. (NARI).

S.J. Janis has again donated a handyman services package to the Fisher House Annual Benefit Golf Outing, which benefits the Fisher House Foundation. We are proud to support this worthwhile cause.

S.J. Janis Receives Lead-Safe Certification

The S.J. Janis Company has received certification from and is registered as of March 23rd, 2010 with the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) as a “Lead-Safe Certified Firm.” This certification ensures that the company informs their clients, employees and trade associates about the necessary steps when working in homes with lead paint. This certification allows us to conduct lead-based renovation, repair and painting activities.

All of the field staff team of the S.J. Janis Company participated in an 8-hour course in lead-safe renovation practices and hands-on training followed by am exam. The law requires the company’s Certified Renovator to supervise and be present on site for things like site preparation, work area containment, and cleanup. Our philosophy is that we want all of our field staff to be certified and up to date to better serve our clients’ needs.

The lead-safe certification is necessary for firms that renovate homes built prior to 1978. Many homes that we remodel originate from this time period. With this certification, we will not only be able to design and build to the specifications of the client, but we will also be able to perform tasks safely and correctly.

Wauwatosa Historical Society – Plein Air Affair

In support of the annual fundraiser, Plein Air Affair, S.J. Janis has made a donation to the Wauwatosa Historical Society. This fundraising event provides funding for educational programs and community preservation initiatives.
